BUFTEA ESPLANADE

CONCEPT DESIGN THEME – URBAN SHAKE

The site of the ESPLANADA COMPLEX is located on the lakeshore in Buftea, having a wide opening towards the lake, but also towards the main access street, called Independentei Street. The beneficiary of the project wished for a residential complex, with typical, single-family and cost-efficient housing units, that harmonise with each other and form an urban housing assembly, with a contemporary touch. Our proposal consisted of using the same house plan design, but used in different ways: single housing units, coupled housing units and row housing units, moved up from the street alignment. We managed this way to optimize the site division into plots, site which has a considerable surface, without having a monotonous urban layout, but obtaining in the same time different types of volumes and textures.

The typical housing plans are minimal, functional and ergonomical. The ground floor contains the following functions: kitchen, dining-room, access hallway, technical space, bathroom and living-room. The up stairs contains the following: two bedrooms, bathroom, one master-bedroom with private bathroom and dressing-room.

The stair case position, the small dimensions of the horizontal circulations, the functions location in relation to the structure of the house helped us obtain an efficient and functional architectural house plan design, suited for this housing dimension.

The large glazed surfaces, the modern construction materials, the terrace roof, the idea of a housing complex with open courtyards, unrestrained by fences towards the interior circulations generates a contemporary architecture, suited especially for young families.
